Route along the Costa Brava with a campervan
The Costa Brava is an area that includes the counties of Alt and Baix Empordà and La Selva. Enjoy a coastal strip of 214 kilometers that is full of beautiful landscapes and beaches of crystal clear water. Do you want to visit one of the most visited areas of Catalonia? We explain you how to do it in an easy and practical way: making a route with a campervan. If you travel to the Costa Brava from Barcelona, the road is very easy, you should take the AP-7.
I want to make a route in the countryside along the Costa Brava, where can I stop?
- You can start in Tossa de Mar. A beautiful town that is known as the only medieval fortified city on the coast. Its castle, coves, alleys and gastronomy will catch you. You can see the Church of San Vicente, the statue of Ava Gardner, walk through the neighborhood of Sa Roqueta and swim in the beach of the Sea Menuda or Cala Es Codolar. To sleep in Tossa you can go to the iris area (Rambla Pau Casals, 44) with picnic area and playpark for the little ones. You will also find an area to remove black and gray water
- Afterwards, you can continue the trip and stop at Sant Feliu de Guíxols. There, you can enjoy the beach and start one of the most beautiful paths of the Camí de Ronda. From Cala Jonca in Sant Feliu in Cala Sa Conca in S'Agaró, there is a path of approximately 6 kilometers. If you decide to stay for the night in Sant Feliu de Guíxols before continuing the journey, you can stay in the Sagaró Area, in Calle de la Vía del Tren, 50. You will find the beach of Sant Pol, 300 meters away!
- If we continue the trip a few kilometers away, we will find the spectacular beaches of Tamariu. Tamariu is known for its coves Los Liris, Aiguadolça and Agua Xelida. If you are a lover of snorkeling this is your place. After a day at the beach, we recommend you to continue the journey to Begur, from one town to another there are only 20 minutes with your campervan. Begur is characterized by its pine forests very close to the beach, its paradisiacal coves such as Aiguablava or Sa Riera. Also, it is worth mentioning the Es Cau de Begur pool, a salt water swimming pool located between the beaches of Playa Fonda and Fornells
If we continue climbing 25 minutes more with our campervan, we will find the Estartit and a very important area: the Medes Islands. This archipelago is one of the most important natural reserves of the Mediterranean sea, due to its flora, fauna and huge diversity of its ecosystem. With a total of 500,000m2 of protected reserve, the Medes Islands will become the perfect excursion if you go with children
We leave the Estartit behind and go up to Empúries, a mandatory stop to see the Greek ruins. This Greek colony called Emporion, was founded in the 6th century AD to later be occupied by the Romans. It was then abandoned and the ruins were hidden until 1908 when the excavations began. Near the ruins of Empúries, you will find an area to spend the night with the motorhome: it is the Escala Area in Ronda de los Oficios, 3-5. From this area to Empúries there are only 7 minutes with your campervan.
After the cultural visit through the debris of Empúries, we continue our trip to the spectacular area of Roses. A beach and sun destination where you can enjoy playing golf, the citadel, the promenade, the Castle of La Trinidad or the impressive Cap de Creus Natural Park. The area where you can spend the night in Roses is the Park Roses motorhome at Calle Puerto Reig, 65
Finally, we arrive at the last point of this trip along the Costa Brava: a fishing village called Cadaqués with its coves, its narrow alleys, the promenade full of white houses, etc. It is, without a doubt, one of the most visited towns in Catalonia due to its special charm. Among the most unique visitors we find Salvador Dalí, the artist was so in love with it that he even claimed that Cadaqués was the most beautiful town in the world. Dalí lived much of his life in Cadaqués with his wife Gala. If you wish, you can visit the Salvador Dalí House Museum
